Central Credit Register – CBM Directive No. 14
In terms of Central Bank of Malta Directive No. 14, Lidion Bank plc (‘‘Lidion Bank’’) is required to report certain credit-related information to the Central Credit Register (‘‘CCR’’) maintained by the Central Bank of Malta. The CCR is a centralised database which stores information on credit exposures granted by banks and other reporting institutions, for supervisory, statistical and financial stability purposes.
What information is reported?
Lidion Bank is obliged to report information relating to credit facilities and other credit exposures granted to natural and legal persons where the aggregate exposure exceeds EUR 5,000 (or the equivalent in foreign currency), including personal data, at the end of the relevant reporting month. Reportable exposures include, among others, loans, guarantees, factoring services and other credit lines which represent a credit exposure.
This information, including personal data, may be shared with other credit institutions, the Malta Development Bank, credit reference agencies for the issuance of credit scores in accordance with article 24A of the Central Bank ofMalta Act and Central Bank of Malta Directive 15, and other institutions as maybe specified in this Directive.
Customers’ Rights
Customers (both natural and legal persons), or their duly authorised representatives, have the right to request an extract of the information held on them within the CCR.Such requests are submitted directly to the Central Bank of Malta, either through the relevant online form or by registered mail, in line with the procedures established by the Central Bank.
Data Protection
All information reported and processed under Directive No. 14 is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data is processed solely forlawful and regulatory purposes and subject to appropriate security and confidentiality safeguards.
